Claims rarely disappear entirely once debunked or otherwise resolved, they tend to resurface again later, sometimes years afterward, stripped of the context that originally explained or corrected them the first time around. A message can circulate again as though it were freshly relevant, even when the underlying situation it describes has long since changed considerably.
Searching for key phrases from a claim, along with the words 'debunked' or 'update', often surfaces earlier coverage explaining what actually happened at the time, which is usually the fastest and most reliable way to catch a recycled claim before repeating it any further to others.
Dates matter enormously in these situations too. A claim with no visible timestamp attached, or one that has become detached from its original context somewhere along the way, should be treated cautiously until its age and current relevance can be properly confirmed, regardless of how urgent it might sound at first.
