What Account Age Alone Can And Cannot Tell You

Launch library · evergreen read

An older account carries a certain baseline credibility simply because it has existed and posted consistently over an extended period of time, which is genuinely harder to fake cheaply than a fresh profile created only recently. Age alone, however, is not proof of trustworthiness, since long dormant accounts can still be repurposed or compromised later.

What matters more than the raw number of years an account has existed is whether its history looks continuous and coherent overall: steady activity, consistent tone, a plausible pattern of engagement over time, rather than a long silence followed abruptly by a sudden burst of entirely new content.

Treat account age as one useful input among several rather than a shortcut straight to trust. A young account is not automatically suspicious just for being new, and an old one is not automatically reliable either, especially once its more recent behaviour is considered carefully alongside everything else.
