Some accounts build an entire fabricated persona around photos taken directly from someone else's genuine, unrelated profile, presenting a complete stranger's actual life as though it were their own in order to build trust quickly, whether for scams, romance schemes, or simply building an audience by borrowing someone else's identity.
A reverse image search run on a profile photo, particularly for an account that is requesting trust or money fairly quickly, often reveals the very same photo attached to a completely different name somewhere else entirely, exposing clearly the borrowed identity sitting quietly behind the profile in question here.
Checking several photos across a single profile rather than judging just one strengthens this particular check considerably further, since one single borrowed photo could theoretically be explained away somehow, while several separately borrowed photos from entirely different unrelated sources genuinely cannot be explained away quite so easily by anyone caught doing it.
