Cross Checking A Handle Across Platforms
Launch library · evergreen read

Genuine organisations and well known individuals usually maintain a fairly consistent presence across several platforms at once, often linking clearly between them for anyone who checks. Searching a handle or name across more than one service and comparing the results, photos, bios, posting history, gives a considerably fuller picture than any single profile can ever offer alone.
Discrepancies are informative even when they seem quite small at first glance. A name spelled slightly differently, a profile photo that does not quite match, or a bio that directly contradicts what appears elsewhere are exactly the kind of gaps that a single platform view would never reveal on its own.
This kind of cross referencing takes only a few minutes to complete properly and meaningfully raises the cost of impersonation, since maintaining a convincing fake consistently across multiple linked platforms over time is far harder than building just one convincing profile in isolation from everything else.
