Checking Follower To Following Ratios

A very high number of accounts followed alongside very few followers received in return is a fairly common pattern among newly created or generally low effort accounts, since following broadly is an easy way to appear active without ever actually building a genuine audience of one's own.
This ratio is only ever a rough signal at best, since plenty of entirely genuine accounts, particularly new or niche ones, show a similar imbalance for perfectly ordinary reasons that have nothing to do with deception. It works best considered alongside other checks rather than treated as a standalone verdict on its own.
Looking at the ratio together with posting history and overall account age gives a considerably clearer picture than any single number ever can by itself. A lopsided ratio paired with thin, generic content is far more telling than the ratio examined entirely on its own, without any of that surrounding context.
