Checking An Account's Engagement For Authenticity

Genuine engagement tends to look noticeably varied when examined closely: comments that respond specifically to the actual content posted, a healthy mix of different reactions, discussion that occasionally disagrees openly. Purchased or inauthentic engagement often looks noticeably flatter by comparison, generic comments that could apply to almost any post at all, reactions clustered unnaturally close together in time.
Checking a handful of accounts that engaged with a particular post, their own history, their own posting patterns, whether they genuinely resemble real active users, offers a useful spot check whenever the overall engagement figures seem unusually high relative to the account's normal, ordinarily expected reach overall.
High engagement numbers alone prove remarkably little without this closer, more careful look, since the raw count itself is the easiest metric of all to inflate artificially and consequently the least reliable one to trust purely at face value without any further checking behind it.
