A Short Unit On Image Literacy

A focused short unit, spanning several sessions rather than being crammed into a single lesson, gives image literacy enough room to build properly and thoroughly: reverse search, metadata, cropping, context, each explored with its own dedicated example rather than compressed together into one overloaded, rushed single teaching session.
Sequencing matters considerably more than it might first seem to appear here too. Starting with simpler, more visibly obvious edits before moving gradually toward subtler ones, like colour grading or composite lighting mismatches, lets student confidence build steadily rather than starting them off with the hardest, most difficult cases first.
End the unit with a cumulative task drawing on absolutely everything covered throughout, checking a single genuinely complex image using the full range of techniques taught, rather than testing each individual technique separately and entirely disconnected from all the others covered earlier, so students see how the whole set fits naturally together.
